[GRAPHIC: MRB serves people who have been injured. Here's Troy's story...]
TROY: It crushed part of my backbone and busted my pelvis, just shattered it, more or less crushed it.
JEFF RICKARD: Troy was involved in the construction of one of the most sophisticated, automated automobile manufacturing facilities in the world. On the day he was injured, he was working on a beam underneath a piece of equipment called a lifter. That lifter wasn't supposed to be moving. But it actually fell on him. It crushed him between a beam that he was working on and the lifter itself and caused very serious injuries. That's basically what his lawsuit was about. We represented Troy against various entities, companies, and corporations who were involved in the construction, the installation, and the programming of that piece of equipment that fell on him. It's what we call a product liability lawsuit.
TROY: I love my meal at work. Trying to think how to word it. I like work.
JEFF RICKARD: Troy is the kind of man that once you met him, you never would forget him. He is the kind of man that makes America great. It was an honor to get to know him and an honor to represent him in this lawsuit. He was a millright by profession. But he really was a cowboy and an even better storyteller.
TROY: You want a roping story, a horse - - story, or saving somebody's life story, or--there's just so darn many of them. That's what I--if I wasn't working, I was cowboy.
JEFF RICKARD: In this lawsuit, there were various legal issues that we had to tackle. And we tackled them head on. But it was just as important for us to present Troy as a whole person in connection with this case. We wanted anyone that was listening to see how this injury had affected Troy, not only the day he was hurt, but for everyday the rest of his life, how it affected his work life, how it affected his family life and his personal life. We did that. We feel confident that we showed Troy in a light that anyone watching would see how he was affected by this. In the end, we achieved a very good result for him. And I was proud of that. But I was even more proud to get to know him and to represent him and to achieve the result that we did.
